Anugerah Guru Arif Budiman (Arif Budiman Malay Language Teacher Awards) is an annual event that recognises excellent Malay Language teachers in mainstream schools who are exemplary in promoting and improving the use of the language. The paddy stalk was chosen to represent the contribution of the teachers back to society as well as a reminder to the awardees for a need for humility, to be like the paddy stalk which bends lower as it is laden with ripening grains.
